The European Ocean Observing System (EOOS) and JPI Oceans have released the first two National Charts for ocean observing in Europe. They showcase Greece’s and Germany’s organisational structure. The approach and information is suitable to underpin AMRIT’s mission to unify and enhance European marine research infrastructures through collaborative data integration and sharing.
The MINKE project, an initiative to improve collaboration between the ocean community and metrology research by supporting starting community infrastructure, is nearing its end in March 2025

Understanding the ocean's role in the carbon cycle is a major objective of scientific research and ocean observing systems (OOS), as the ocean is the main sink for anthropogenic carbon. The processes need to be better understood, and the spatial variability of the source/sink better quantified, so that the budget can be correctly calculated.
